Does anyone know if the MediSense Xtra Glucose Meter and the MediSense Optium are the same Meter?
I HAVE TEST STRIPS FOR THE OPTIUM METER BUT DON'T HAVE THE METER, AND THE MEDISENSE XTRA LOOKS JUST LIKE THE OPTIUM METER. JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW IF THE OPTIUM STRIPS WOULD WORK IN THE XTRA METER. IF YOU KNOW PLEASE ANSWER, OR IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN PURCHASE AN OPTIUM METER, I'VE ALREADY CHECKED EBAY.
The Medisense (now owned by Abbott Labs) Optium strips unfortunately cannot be used in the Precision Xtra meter. After doing a short web search, I found a few places that still carry the Optium meter online in the US. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=medisense+optium&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1&cop=&ei=UTF-8
This also begs the question... are you perhaps in the UK? (I've only seen these meters sold under the Precision branding in the US). If yes, Abbott has discontinued this model in the UK.
