high blood pressure?
hello. im a 14yr old male. i think im healthy- i weigh 120lbs., am 5'5.5in, and am only 12%body fat. high blood pressure is not a family problem, and actually low bp is a problem on my mom's side. so here's my story....
one day at school in health, we had our bp's checked by a cheap little finger monitor. i was high-at about 140/90. so i researched, and heard that these monitors were very inaccurate. i told my pop's about this, and he bought a $100 omron hem 711, which is supposedly one of the best out there. sometimes im high on that machine, espescially after exercise or while im nervous or something, but usually am completely normal, or even in about the 90/55 range. so, i go to the doc for a sport's physical, the nurse takes my bp, and i ask her what it was, she says 94/70. take into considerations that i was nervous, too. which reading is most accurate?should i worry, can being nervous or active cause high bp? thanks.
You'r bp is all over the map because of a lot of things. a. you seem to be very concerned about it and get nervous during testing. b. you have used many different testing procedure. c. you have tested yourself after exercise. I would trust the doctor's reading, because, well he is a doctor. In my opinion, you have no need to worry about this right now. You are at a very healthy height and weight and you are only 14 years old. From what I can tell, you are at a very low risk for high bp.
